A+ Solid Foundation Schools Launches Secondary School Annex, Celebrates Achievements in Kwara

by Samuel Adeyemi

A+ Solid Foundation Technical and Vocational Schools hosted a Groundbreaking Ceremony today in Ilorin, Kwara State to celebrate its journey, achievements, and plans for the future.

The occasion marked the initiative to establish a secondary school annex focused on vocational training, a first of its kind in the region.

Speaking to Royal FM after the event, the Proprietor, Dr. Timothy Alabi, emphasized the institution’s commitment to filling a critical gap in Nigeria’s education system.

“The reason for expanding the secondary school is because of the lack of technical schools in Nigeria. It has never been extended to junior secondary school. This kind of vocational training is lacking and we want to pioneer the provision of it.”

He further explained that vocational training would not only enable students to acquire practical skills but also serve as a foundation for further education and financial independence.

“When you have vocational training, you can use that to sponsor yourself if you want to go to other institutions. It’s self-supportive. When you have the vocational training, you are ready to provide for and upgrade yourself.”

Dr. Alabi also expressed his gratitude for the support received from the Kwara State Ministry of Education.

“The Ministry of Education is supportive amd interested in what we have started. They’ve even expressed interest in continuing to support, give guidance and recommendations for making sure it becomes the standard.”

The ceremony also celebrated the school’s milestones since its inception in 2015/2016, including five successful sets of graduates, excursions to educational sites, and a robust computer training program.

Principal of the school, Mr. Olumide Peter Awujoola highlighted the school’s ongoing dedication to holistic education, integrating moral and academic excellence.

He reiterated that the planned annex would not only expand the school’s capacity but also introduce advanced curriculums and modern teaching tools aligned with international standards.

Meanwhile, Dr. Alabi encouraged parents to spread awareness about the school’s offerings, especially the benefits of computer literacy.

“We need awareness from the parents to showcase this to others. They should tell other parents that if they partake, their children will not regret it. They should give awareness of the computer literacy and skill that is offered in the school. This will become profitable to the parents, community, and the nation in general.”
