Health Commissioner, El-Imam Credits Governor AbdulRazaq for Strides in Kwara’s Health Sector

Kwara State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, has commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his leadership and commitment to improving healthcare delivery across the state.

Speaking during day two of the fourth quarterly inter-ministerial press briefing held at the Ministry of Finance Conference Room in Ilorin, Kwara State, the Commissioner noted the Governor’s role in advancing both infrastructural development and public health initiatives.

Dr. El-Imam highlighted ongoing reconstruction work at the Civil Service Clinic in GRA, Ilorin, which is being transformed into a world-class secondary healthcare center under the Governor’s directive.

Additionally, she noted the renovations of the Adewole Cottage Hospital and the Sobi Specialist Hospital’s eye clinic, revealing that the renovation of the Offa General Hospital is set to begin shortly.

The Commissioner also noted that Governor’s efforts extended to the provision of solar inverters and medical equipment for General Hospitals in Oro, Ajase-Ipo, and two other communities.

Renovation and equipment procurement for the General Hospital in Afon were also completed under his leadership.

Dr. El-Imam further lauded the Governor for prioritizing staff welfare, noting the payment of the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) to support the academic and professional development of health workers.

She emphasized how this investment has enhanced the quality of services delivered to patients across the state.

On public health, the Commissioner credited the Governor’s proactive leadership for Kwara’s successful participation in the nationwide “Project 10 Million: Know Your Numbers, Control Your Numbers” campaign.

The initiative screened over 100,000 Kwarans for hypertension and diabetes, with free medication provided to those requiring treatment.

She also highlighted the administration’s commitment to women’s health through a statewide breast and cervical cancer screening program.

The Governor’s directive enabled free screenings in all 16 local government areas of Kwara State, starting in Moro, with over 800 women tested for early detection of the conditions.

Dr. El-Imam praised Governor AbdulRazaq’s vision to provide affordable, high-quality healthcare services for Kwarans, describing it as the foundation for creating an enabling environment to the health workforce.
