Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, will graduate a record-breaking 2,833 students at its 15th convocation ceremony, marking a major academic milestone for the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lateef Folorunsho Oladimeji, announced this during a press briefing at the University’s Senate Chamber to officially commence activities for the convocation.
Professor Oladimeji said the graduands comprise 2,192 Bachelor’s degree holders, seventy-seven Postgraduate Diploma recipients, 486 Master’s degree holders, and seventy-nine Doctor of Philosophy graduates.
He described the ceremony as historic, being the first he would preside over since assuming office as the sixth substantive Vice-Chancellor in July 2025, noting that it reflects the University’s steady growth, academic stability, and rising confidence among students and parents.
The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that Al-Hikmah University recently secured successful re-accreditation for 28 undergraduate and 5 postgraduate programmes, while regulatory bodies also expressed satisfaction with its medical and law programmes.
On global visibility, Professor Oladimeji revealed that the University was ranked 15th in Nigeria in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings and has now achieved its first-ever inclusion in the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
He added that major infrastructure projects have been completed across the University’s campuses, security has been strengthened, and student accommodation expanded to about 4,000 bed spaces.
The convocation lecture will hold on January 7th, 2026, to be delivered by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, while the ceremony will climax on January 8th with the award of degrees, honorary doctorates, and commissioning of completed projects.
