The Kwara State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, Hon. Abdullahi Abubakar Bata, has detailed key achievements recorded in the fourth quarter of 2024 under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration.

He disclosed this on Tuesday during day two of the fourth quarterly inter-ministerial press briefing held at the Ministry of Finance Conference Room in Ilorin, Kwara State, chaired by the Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bolanle Olukoju.

Speaking on behalf of his ministry, Hon. Bata highlighted the ministry’s successful facilitation of funds disbursement to all 16 Local Government Areas in the state, which enabled the completion of essential projects such as road grading, construction of drainage systems, installation of boreholes, and hospital upgrades.

The Commissioner also pointed out that the ministry took proactive steps ahead of September 2024’s Local Government elections by organizing workshops for newly elected chairpersons and their deputies.

Hon. Bata noted that the ministry played a pivotal role in resolving communal conflicts, particularly in Kwara South and Kwara North, thereby promoting peace and stability in the affected regions.

On staff welfare, the Commissioner stated that the ministry had prioritized the prompt payment of salaries and pensions for Local Government employees, ensuring that no arrears were left unpaid.

The Commissioner further reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to working closely with Local Governments to monitor projects and ensure strict adherence to established procedures.
