Yesterday, the Kwara State government began the distribution of 73,364 textbooks and sporting kits to public pupils of primary and junior secondary schools across the State of Harmony.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who launched the distribution of the multimillion-naira instructional materials and sports kits for the pupils reiterated the state government’s commitment to basic education.
Items distributed included 73,365 textbooks in English, Mathematics, Computer Studies, and other core subjects; 12,780 assorted primary school library books; 100 pieces of special education materials; 260 sets of Early Childhood Care, Development and Education plastic chairs and tables; 3,931 sports equipment items; 344 sets of agricultural tools; and 78 Maga Tab X tablets.
Speaking through the state Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, the governor stated that the free distribution was to ease the financial burden on parents amid the rising cost of instructional materials in the market.
