President Tinubu Urges Action Against Fake Institutions for Academic Integrity

President Bola Tinubu has called on education regulators to step up efforts to protect Nigeria’s academic integrity.

Speaking at the 14th convocation of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in Abuja, President Tinubu—represented by the Director of University Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, Dr Rakiya Gambo—warned against the rise of fake institutions and fraudulent certificates, saying such practices must be stamped out permanently.

He commended the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), National Universities Commission (NUC), and other agencies for working together to improve standards.

The President also urged NOUN to lead Africa in digital learning by transitioning into a fully online university, pledging full government support for the process.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Tajudeen Abbas, emphasized the need for education to drive national development, saying Nigeria’s future lies in knowledge, not oil.
