Controversies from different quarters especially oppositions have continued to trail the Osun State Local Government pre and post election, as it was described as disrespect for rule of law and subversion of Nigeria democracy.
Reacting, public affairs analysts, Dr Hadi Atanda Moshood And Dr Hafees Suleiman Tosin condemned the hastiness of the election despite the court order and the Attorney General Of Federation, Lateef Fagbemi , request for Governor Ademola Adeleke to cancel the polls, adding that the disregard for the judiciary stemmed from external forces by selfish political leaders.
Speaking on the News Panorama segment of the Royal FM Ilorin Morning Mix Programme, Dr Hadi noted that the fundamental role of the government is to respect the life of the people they are sworn to protect , adding that the death recorded before the election is enough to halt the election.
While highlighting the importance and power transition given to the local government , Dr Hafees stressed that as much effort is given by the current administration under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to give grassroot government power to out boast their authority, many state government still thrive to capture, manipulate and control their offices.
Conclusively, the analysts suggested that local government elections should be transferred directly to Independent National Electoral Commission INEC from the States electoral commission in a bid to ensure credible elections.
