Reps to Host National Dialogue on Local Government Autonomy in Abuja

The House of Representatives Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution will hold a national dialogue on local government autonomy on Monday, December 2, 2024, in Abuja.

Deputy Speaker Honourable Benjamin Kalu, while addressing the Special Ad-hoc Committee on Constitution Review, described the dialogue as essential for building a robust local government framework.

He also highlighted plans for public engagements on tax reforms and interactions with political parties as part of the constitutional review process.

The committee has announced zonal public hearings to begin in January 2025, covering 12 states across all six geopolitical zones.
