Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to dismiss a petition filed against her by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
It would be recalled that Akpabio accused the Kogi Central lawmaker of criminal defamation and incitement, following her claims that he was involved in a plot to assassinate her.
In a statement issued yesterday by her lawyer, Victor Giwa, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan described Akpabio’s petition as an attempt to distract from serious allegations that require police investigation.
She insisted that the Senate President should submit himself to a full investigation over the alleged threat to her life, noting that her security details were withdrawn under his directive.
The statement also argued that until the allegations against Akpabio are fully investigated and proven false, his petition against the senator should not be entertained.
