Former Senator Shehu Sani has called on the government to honour and immortalise the 21 athletes from Kano State who died in a tragic bus accident.
The athletes were returning from the just-concluded National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State, when the fatal crash occurred.
In a message posted on his verified Facebook page, Senator Sani described the incident as a national tragedy, saying the travellers died in active service for their state and country.
He urged both the Kano State Government and the Federal Government to do more for the victims’ families, proposing that streets be named after them and a memorial erected at the accident site, so future generations can remember their sacrifice.
